Occidentalism International Exhibition [Hotel Swiss/ Downtown Cairo 2007]
Occidentalism exhibition concept was based on the idea of “how do you perceive the West as an Eastern artist”. Particular to this exhibition was the fact that the majority of artists made their projects to fit that concept. In this context, the theme unified the works.
According to this concept a cooperative project “Stammer” housed 4 different artists, each contributing a unique point of view about stammering as an obstacle in communication with others.
Project supervisor Shady el Noshokaty provided each artist with their own space, imposing a set of rules regarding aspects of the work.
Magdi Mostafa has interpreted stammering as an interruption of flowing energy combined of voice and sound, each time it accelerates to a specific point.
